Diesel Engine Vertical Turbine Fire Pump
Product Description
A typical diesel vertical turbine fire pump system includes:
1. Pump Bowl Assembly
Located at the bottom of the pump column, this assembly includes impellers and diffusers that move water from the source up to the discharge head.
2. Pump Column Pipe
This long, vertical shaft connects the pump bowl to the discharge head and houses the line shaft, which transmits power from the diesel engine to the impellers.
3. Discharge Head
This component transfers the flow from the vertical pump column to the fire protection piping system and mounts the diesel driver aboveground.
4. Diesel Engine
The pump is driven by a robust, fuel-powered diesel engine—equipped with its own battery system, fuel tank, cooling system, and control panel. These engines are designed to start quickly during emergencies and run continuously for extended periods.
5. Controller
The fire pump controller, often UL or FM-approved, starts and stops the diesel engine based on signals from the fire detection system or pressure drops.
