Vertical Turbine Fire Pump
Product Description
A Vertical Turbine Fire Pump is a specialized fire pump designed to draw water from deep sources such as wells, underground tanks, or reservoirs. Unlike horizontal pumps, vertical turbine pumps are designed with their impellers submerged below the water surface. This makes them ideal for applications where the water source is located below the suction inlet of a pump. They consist of three major parts: Pump Bowl Assembly: Located at the bottom and submerged in the water, this section includes the impellers and diffusers. Column Pipe: A vertical shaft that connects the pump bowl to the motor. Discharge Head and Motor: Located above the ground, where the water is discharged into the fire protection system. Motors can be either electric or diesel-driven.
Product Advantages
Ideal for Deep Water Sources
Because they are designed to operate with the impeller submerged, vertical turbine pumps can lift water from significant depths where horizontal pumps fail due to suction limitations.
Space-Saving Configuration
With the motor mounted above ground and the pumping elements below, these pumps require less floor space—making them ideal for cramped pump rooms or vertical installations.
Flexible Drive Options
They can be powered by electric motors or diesel engines, giving system designers flexibility based on site conditions, redundancy needs, or code requirements.
